Integrated Forecast-Management System for Lake Victoria
An integrated hydrologic-forecasting and reservoir management tool was developed as a component of a decision support system (DSS) to be used to assist in the regional and local planning of agricultural development in the Lake Victoria region and in the operational management of the Lake waters. The work was a collaborative effort between HRC and the Georgia Water Resources Institute at Georgia Tech. HRC's focus was on the design, implementation and testing of distributed hydrologic models for the watershed contributing to Lake Victoria. The models were implemented in 1999 and are now operational in the region using on-site and METEOSAT multispectral data.
