Theresa Carpenter
Theresa M. Carpenter, P.E.

Ms. Carpenter joined the Hydrologic Research Center in September 1998 as a Hydrologic Engineer.  Her interests at HRC have focused on distributed hydrologic modeling, flash flooding, and quantifying impacts of uncertainty in hydrologic simulations.  Ms. Carpenter received her B.S.E. (1991) and M.S. (1993) degrees in Civil Engineering from The University of Iowa, and in 2003, she entered the Doctoral program in Climate Research at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography of UCSD.  Her doctoral research focuses on climatic variability of small-scale flooding and potential changes and impacts under future climate.   Prior to joining HRC, Ms. Carpenter held the positions of Hydraulic Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, and Research Scientist at the Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research.   She has been active in various professional societies, including the American Geophysical Union, Society of American Military Engineers, and Quad-Cities Engineering and Science Council.  Ms. Carpenter is a licensed Professional Engineer with the State of Iowa.
