| The above figure presents estimates of monthly
climatological mean areal precipitation for large basins of Central
America for the month of July.
Precipitation, averaged over the area of the large basins, ranges from
less than 200 mm/month to more than 700 mm/month. July is the month with
highest precipitation in this region, with particularly heavy precipitation
areas shown in Guatemala and the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua and Costa
Rica.
